Meet the Team: Eden van der Moere

“I’m the sex bomb”

With the new academic year fast approaching, the TR Daily Board thought it was high time you got to know the faces behind the red lipstick. In this four part series we will introduce you to each member of the Daily Board with one-on-one interviews, and a group interview with our Section Editors.

In this installment we’ll introduce you to this year’s Editor-in-Chief: Eden van der Moere. Eden will lead the TR team, be in charge of what gets published and what doesn’t, and motivate and inspire you to write and send in your articles. How does this girl combine being a sex bomb and a drug lord with being Editor-in-Chief? Continue reading to find out!

What brings you to writing?

I guess that it’s always has been so natural to me I can’t remember a day I wasn’t writing. I don’t think it’s really something that brings me to writing, I think writing is something that’s always been there, and I think it’s always going to be there.

So, did you keep diaries or did you write stories or something else?

When I was younger I wrote all the time. I just had notebooks and just filled them up with personal stories, with events that happened or just really non-sense stories. I was always writing, and later that turned into kind of journalism writing.

What’s your favorite type of thing to write?

Uh…

3000 word papers!!!!

[Laughs] Girl, you got me there. I think what I like most is writing stories, but it’s also the hardest. It’s the most difficult writing of all but it’s also the one that I enjoy the most.

Which lush bath bomb are you?

I don’t know all the names!!! Okay, it has to be pink and sparkly.

Renske: Isn’t that the Sex Bomb?

Eden: In that case, I’m the sex bomb

What’s the best place to write for you?

I don’t really have a place where I go to write or something. It’s just when it hits, it hits. And whether that’s on the train, at home, on the couch, or in bed, I just write. So it doesn’t really matter.

All-write… get it

[ear-deafening silence]

Three words to describe yourself?

I’d say clumsy, ambitious, and creative.

Where do you find your inspiration?

For what, for life?

Pretty Much

What inspires me?

Yeah

I guess books. When I read a book that amazes me, I get so inspired, and all I want to do is write or think about [the book] or go outside with my camera and take some hipster-y photos. I just read The Girls by Emma Cline, and it took my breath away. It was so amazing and I just got inspired to write again and to publish things again.

That’s really cool! So if you’re not writing you’re …?

Sleeping

What are some of your goals writing-wise and life-wise?

Writing-wise, definitely publish a book someday. That’s always been my dream. My biggest dream is to be an author. To have a book on the shelf with my name on it, and people reading it and enjoying it and getting inspired by my words, that’s really a big dream. And life-wise, my biggest goal? I think to make those around me happy

TR related, and it’s my last one, what do you like most about Tabula Rasa?

What I like most about TR is that it is made by students, it’s our product. It’s what we do, it’s what we’re interested in, it’s what we like to share, it’s our stories that we want to tell and we’re the voices to tell it. It’s completely our decision, what we do with it, it’s our product and I guess that’s what I like about it the most.
