SAVE THE DATE – A Guide to the Spring Semester

Us UCR students are constantly busy with a numerous amount of activities. Whether it is homework, sports, society work, volunteering, or simply having a chat and a drink with your friends, hallmates or housemates, we are always busy. This means you need to be planning time well in order to have a chance to combine all these activities, as well as being able to to reanimate your sleepy goldfish every day (a constant struggle). Tabula Rasa is here for you to help you with this struggle. We present to you a shortlist of the events you simply cannot miss in the remainder of this semester:

Week 8

RASA: Policy GA, Tuesday March 24th, 19.30 – Once back from the break, RASA will host a General Assembly completely dedicated to policy manual changes. You are welcome to send suggestions concerning the RASA policy to the board, and they will be included in the GA’s slides. Show your face if you want to make a difference.

Archimedes: Cooking with Liquid Nitrogen, Wednesday March 25th, 16.00 – Ever wanted to know the chemistry behind cooking? Archimedes and Cooking Society will give you the chance to cook up something amazing in one of the most exciting collaborations of the semester! The Bachtensteene kitchen will accommodate this event.

Week 9

PartyCo: NOXX Party, Thursday April 2ndAfter the great success of last year’s trip to NOXX in Antwerp, PartyCo is giving you the opportunity to do it all again. One of the biggest opportunities of the year if you like to party, and you have the whole Easter weekend to recover from it.

Week 10

SportsCo & HAC:  Campus Olympics, Wednesday April 8thThis year, SportsCo and HAC will bring back the annual Campus Olympics! All four campus locations will go head to head in a wide variety of disciplines, ranging from basketball to Mario Kart. You cannot let the chance slip to defend the colors of your campus location, right? This is also great practice for the Inter-UC tournament.

RASA: Pre-Election Night, Thursday April 9thFrom this week onwards, campaigning really starts. On this night, the candidates for the RASA, AAC, HAC and CHEF positions will present themselves and speech for the first time. If you want to go to the Election General Assembly prepared and want to get to know what your candidates can do for you in the upcoming year, then make time for this event.

CultureCo: International Trip, Friday April 10th – Sunday April 12thThe semi-annual International Trip by CultureCo is set to return! The destination of the trip is still a secret, but will not remain so for long…

Week 11

RASA: Election GA, Tuesday April 14th, 19.30 – This is maybe the most important night of the year, as during this GA your new student bodies will be elected. The Oostkerk will host this ceremony, and everybody is highly encouraged to listen to the 1-minute speeches, ask a burning question and let their voice be heard.

UCSRN: Inter-UC Tournament, Saturday April 18thThe largest UCSRN event is set to be in Amsterdam this year. AUC will host tributes from the 6 most prominent University Colleges of the Netherlands, where they will fight for medals and eternal glory! UCR came 4th last year, so RASA is motivated to beat everyone this time! You can compete in a wide range of sports, as well as debating, arts, music events and beer chugging, with the biggest Inter-UC afterparty. As the UCSRN says on their Facebook event: ‘Probably unmissable’.

MedAffairs: Radiology Trip Amsterdam, Sunday April 19th, 13.45 – MedAffairs brings you a trip to broaden your knowledge of radiology in Amsterdam! Radiologist van Kuijk will lead a tour through the department at VUMC, where you can inspect radiographies and use ultrasound yourself. You can sign yourself up for this event soon.

Week 12

RASA: Society Election Week, throughout the week – Not interested in a large board position, but interested in a small board position? Week 12 is the week in which the society boards get elected. Make some time for running, giving a speech and voting for the societies you are involved with.

SportsCo: Faculty and Students Soccer Tournament (FASST), Wednesday April 22ndThe annual FASST will be organized by the AAC in collaboration with SportsCo! Join this event for a nice head emptying day of football at the fields VV Zeelandia, seeing some of your favorite faculty members compete. Do not forget to join for dinner afterwards.

Week 13

RASA: Culture Week, throughout the week – A week filled with culture, by the Culture Week team! The perfect week to attend some events regarding cultural practices, such as dinners and games, which also create a stronger bond with the locals.

Week 14

Music Society:  Classical Concert, Thursday May 7thMusic Society’s last major event of the year is the Classical Concert, to be held in elderly home St. Willibrord. UCR students with a music track will perform for both locals and interested students.

THEATRA: Spring Play, Friday May 8thThe Stadsschouwburg Middelburg will be the stage of THEATRA’s semester project, the Spring Play. This year, ‘Ajax in Iraq’ will be performed. If you like theater and seeing your fellow students act in a thrilling story, THEATRA will provide you with the perfect evening. A highly recommendable and enjoyable event!

Week 15:

RASA: End of Term Party, Friday May 15thFinally, we have reached the end of the semester. RASA’s End of Term Party Team will ensure you can end the semester with a bang in the biggest party of the year. And really, what better way is there to start your summer break.
