The boulevard is one of the prettiest places in Vlissingen, and even all of Zeeland. You can enjoy the sight of the rough Zeeuwse sea while having a drink at one of the many cafés at the seaside. One of those cafés is Panta Rhei. Panta Rhei is old Greek for “everything flows” or “everything moves”; a very suitable name for a café surrounded by water. The wooden and glass building consists of two floors with Panta Rhei occupying the lower one. The top floor is the location of a different, fancier restaurant: Boka Bizarro Beach. Thanks to the glass walls, every table in Panta Rhei has an incredible view on the water and beach, which gives the place an amazingly serene feel.
Panta Rhei is opened daily from 10 am onwards and with its laidback, casual atmosphere it is the favorite hangout of many locals from Vlissingen and Middelburg. One can have an excellent and affordable lunch there (check out their menu here), whereas dinner is a little more expensive. Food and drinks are served by very nice and young waiters, who contribute to the relaxed ambiance.
Another thing that Panta Rhei is known for is their love for good music. While having lunch there, the background music jumps from classics like Bon Jovi to modern tunes from John Mayer. They also have a tradition of bands playing there every Sunday, starting at 5 pm (see http://www.strandpaviljoenpantarhei.nl/playlist).
In short, Panta Rhei is the perfect place to enjoy a nice, cheap lunch at an incredible location. Take a break from schoolwork and stroll along the beach and empty your mind, or go check out a cool band and drink a beer at the terrace!
