Look Inside the Bubble

Christmas shopping in Middelburg. It sounds ridiculous perhaps, but placed in the many cobbled streets of Middelburg lie some hidden and some not-so-hidden gems waiting to be discovered by you. With Sinterklaas and Christmas around the corner, it is time to go on a mission to find that perfect gift for your mum, dad, best friend, or housemate. Even though Middelburg is a small city, many of us do not take the time to explore it. So what can we find in this bubble?
- ‘Indistrieel Middelburg’ – Dam 61
This small shop on the Dam has all kinds of decoration for any room. The price range is higher, but don’t let that stop you from going to take a look. These industrial inspired pieces are sure to catch your attention.
- ‘De Metamorferij’ – Dam 59
Right next to the designer decoration shop is a little place called ‘De Metamorferij’. This place has old trinkets with low prices. Go here for a large array of coloured cups and plates.
- ‘Wijn koperij van Leerzem’ – Molenwater 137
For when Gall & Gall just does not cut it anymore. Did you know that students do not fall under the definition of ‘alcoholic’? Do not hesitate to get that favourite bottle of wine or hard liquor for your housemate that loves a drink. This place has everything you need for more crazy nights in Middelburg that we have all come to know and love.
- ‘Si-Sa-Soep’ – Langeviele 81
This small shop at the end of the Langeviele has everything you need for your baby brother or baby sister, that little cousin, or the youngest housemate. From toys to decorative elements, this shop has it all.
- ‘Bastiaan den Herder’ – Sint Jansstraat 10
This one is for the girls, or the boys looking for a gift for their sister of girlfriend. This vintage shop has a selection of bags, accessories, jackets, dresses, and tops. Apart from the vintage clothing, Bastiaan den Herder also vintage inspired clothing.
- ‘Echo Audio’ – Langeviele 15
Echo Audio has everything you need to step up your end-of-semester parties. Here you can get everything sound related, from stereo systems to headphones.
- ‘De Drukkerij’ – Markt 51
We all know this place. We all know how amazing it is. Besides books on every topic you can imagine they also have music and gifts.
- ‘Hema’ – Lange Delft 31
Hema has everything, including gifts. The top floor has a wide selection of gifts for boys, girls, and children. If you are at a loss and do not know what to get, go to the Hema, you are guaranteed to find something.
- ‘Dille & Kamille’ – Langeviele 30
Dille & Kamille is the shop where you can get all your Christmas related gifts. Looking for Christmas decoration? Looking for small gifts? They have it all. You can even make your own gift basket here.
Middelburg may only be a small city, yet there are many shops that can hold that one present you are looking for. It only takes a walk around town to find these gems.
