LIVE PERFORMANCES BETWEEN STUDY BOOKS AND BEER CRATES

By Joukje Boeder

On February 23rd, the third edition of StuKaFest will take place in Middelburg. A unique opportunity to take a look inside student rooms and enjoy an intimate concert at the same time.

StuKaFest is a Dutch initiative, and hosts over 15 festivals nationwide. After the two successful editions in Middelburg, students have again taken up the challenge of organizing this festival in the different UCR campus locations spread throughout the town. StuKaFest hopes to improve the relationship between the students and locals, but most of all to present a wide range of cultural performances to the heart of Zeeland. A unique opportunity for both locals and students to explore the university campus while enjoying a combination of music, theatre and art.

In Bagijnhof 1, visitors will be able to enjoy the dreampop/shoegaze music of Moon Tapes, recently featured on ‘De Wereld Draait Door’. Only a couple of doors further, in Bagijnhof 7, Bovenste Knoopje Open will take the audience on a trip with their creative combination of theatre, music and comedy. Just around the corner, in Zuidsingel, an angelic voice will fill the student’s room: Pitou. For those looking for a more experimental musical adventure, DOOXS will be ready in Hof van Sint Pieter to overwhelm the visitors with their electronic indie beats. Not experimental enough? Let Eva Julia Bervoets take you on a tour through her video installation ‘WECK’, where you will question the meaning of time. And if you still have some energy left to dance, do not forget to pass Bachtensteene and let yourself be captured by the psychedelic indierock of Crystal Water.

And for those who can really not get enough, De Spot will host the ‘Stukafeest’ after party with DJ Judaja and JUNGO!

Tickets can be purchased at Eleanor during lunchbreaks and the De Drvkkery or via their webshop.
