Ishany Balder is an energetic, enthusiastic and experienced third-semester student who is majoring in psychology and economics, with a minor in statistics. This semester, Ishany wants to run for the position of Human Resources Manager in Elliott.
But why Elliott? Ishany tells us she has been very involved in working in and around Elliott with the Interior Design Team; which was set up this year to make Elliott a cozier and even more likeable place for us UCR students. Since her first semester at UCR, Ishany was determined to run for one of the four big boards, but has always been undecided about which one to choose. The past semester however, the Interior Design Team helped her to make a decision. She ‘loves being a part of Elliott’s progress’ and wants to be even more involved in the future – hopefully, as a member of the Elliott general board.
Why the position of Human Resource Manager? Ishany always liked to work with- and alongside people, coordinating, and making sure everything runs smoothly. The job of a Human Resource Manager appeals to her in general and she can imagine working in this field after UCR. Her main task would involve the coordination of all volunteers in Elliott, which requires a lot of organization and communication with people. Even though this sounds like a lot of responsibility and stress, Ishany is positive that she brings previous work experience from former boards and teams, such as being a Designer in the RAW Board of 2014-2015. She is organized and easy to work with, she explains. Most importantly, Ishany thinks that she could ‘use her enthusiasm and motivation to not only get new volunteers but also to make them as enthusiastic about being a part of Elliott life’ as she is.
In her opinion, this is key to improving the overall atmosphere around Elliott.
She would very much like to be a part of the new Elliott board and asks the student body to approve her in the upcoming General Election. She promises to do her best and to turn Elliott into the best it could possible be.
Do you think Ishany is capable to be your new Human Resource Manager? Come to the Election GA following Tuesday and vote!
